Shootings

This isn’t exactly what I thought I would ever have to write about. I imagine most of you have heard about the Orlando mass shooting last week and that is what I wanted to talk about today.

If you don’t know what I’m talking about here is what CNN have summarised it as:

An American-born man who’d pledged allegiance to ISIS gunned down 49 people early Sunday at a gay nightclub in Orlando, the deadliest mass shooting in the United States and the nation’s worst terror attack since 9/11, authorities said.

The event utterly horrified me. Why do people do this stuff? Why do they think it’s okay? Why do they think they are supporting Islam? Why take innocent people’s lives? Why, just why?

I can’t get my head around this at all. The story has developed throughout the week and it gradually makes less and less sense. What makes it worse is that he deliberately targeted gay people. And don’t get me wrong, no one should ever be targeted to such horror. ISIS are not fighting for Islam, everything they’re doing goes completely against their religion. Does Islam say kill people? Does Islam say shoot nearly 100 people because they’re gay? I don’t think it does.

To be honest, I don’t even know where I am going with this, I am simply so horrified. I wanted to make more people aware of this. More people aware of the crazy world we still live in. More people aware of the fact that this world cannot live in peace while these people are around. The fact that we live in a world where people could be shot for just being who they are, just accepting themselves and being them. People currently live in fear of something like this happening in their country, or their town, or their local club. How is that right?

This week a British MP was shot and stabbed in her constituency. WHY?! I cannot for the life of me get my head around things like this and why people do it. This woman was a wife, a mother, a friend, someone people trusted.

I guess what I’m trying to say is where’s the love? We are all human, yet some think they have the right to inflict such pain on others. I have been writing this post for a week because I simply couldn’t word it and Kirstie Brittain did it perfectly – find it here

Stay Safe in this crazy world ❤

Until Next Time xxx
